One World Global Education PROGRAM
One World is an experiential learning program. It’s objective is to provide participants in its programs with the opportunity to “live themselves into a new way of thinking” resulting from cross-class and cross-cultural immersion experience—or, as our mission statement puts it: “To help North Americans discover that their lives are interconnected with those of developing nations by immersion living and working among the Third World poor.” We hope that the cross-cultural, cross-class learning opportunities arranged by One World will help create a true global community—not a global Shopping Centre where everything and everyone is for sale, but rather an interdependent community in which people care about and care for one another.
Peace Brigades International
Peace Brigades is a non-governmental organization (NGO) which protects human rights and promotes nonviolent transformation of conflicts. When invited, we send teams of volunteers into areas of repression and conflict. The volunteers accompany human rights defenders, their organizations and others threatened by political violence. Perpetrators of human rights abuses usually do not want the world to witness their actions. The presence of volunteers backed by a support network helps to deter violence. We create space for local activists to work for social justice and human rights.

The Sierra Club of Canada’s mission is to develop a diverse, well-trained grassroots network working to protect the integrity of our global ecosystems. The Sierra Club mission focuses on five overriding threats: loss of animal and plant species, deterioration of the planet’s oceans and atmosphere, the ever-growing presence of toxic chemicals in all living things, destruction of our remaining wilderness, and spiraling population growth and over consumption.
